Starlett Massey is the founding shareholder of Massey Law Group (MLG), where she practices commercial litigation, corporate transactions, and real estate law. Fairness, equity, and diversity are central to Starlett’s law practice and her community engagement.
She founded MLG because she wanted to create an alternative law firm model based on the principles of fairness, equality, and transparency. She understands that happy lawyers who are fairly compensated and treated with respect will deliver the highest quality of legal services to clients. In 2021, Starlett founded the Collab at 3833—an office building shared by women professionals. The space is dedicated to creating a sense of belonging, fostering the spirit of collaboration, and hosting community events—from campaign fundraisers to art shows for emerging artists.
Starlett graduated cum laude from the Florida State University with a degree in English in 1998. She is a 2007 graduate of the Florida State University College of Law. Starlett is licensed to practice in Florida and is licensed and practices in all state and federal courts of the State of Florida. She was recognized as a Rising Star in Business Litigation by peer review through the Florida Super Lawyers from 2013 to 2017 and as a Super Lawyer in Business Litigation from 2022 to 2024.
For six consecutive years, Starlett served on The Florida Bar’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. The Diversity and Inclusion Committee’s work included initiatives, such as the Diversity Leadership Grant program, the Florida Holocaust Museum’s ”Letters from Anne and Martin” event, and The Florida Bar’s Path to Unity Program. Since 2024, she has served on the Executive Council for The Florida Bar’s Solo and Small Firm Section.
Starlett has worked extensively with the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (FAWL) and PFAWL, their Pinellas County Chapter. She serves as the DEI committee chair for PFAWL. She has represented PFAWL on its delegation in Tallahassee and enthusiastically spearheaded PFAWL’s participation in the St. Pete Pride Parade. In 2024, Starlett was recognized with the FAWL President’s Award for her work in forming the non-profit FAWL Support Organization Inc. (FSO), increasing FAWL’s impact and service projects to support women lawyers. In 2025, Starlett was named PFAWL’s Lawyer of the Year for her contributions, service, and for fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession and her community.
Joining Mashekia Allgood, an AI ethicist and founder of AllAI, Starlett recently participated in a webinar series, available for free Florida CLE technology credits, which examines the impact of artificial intelligence on law firms, the law practice, and client cases. Additionally, Starlett has partnered with Florida CraftArt for “The Art of Healing”—a collaborative performance, also available for free CLE credit, which increases awareness about tolerance, acceptance, and racism in our communities.
Starlett’s vision for MLG and her commitment to gender and racial equity, diversity, equity, and inclusion are second only to her dedication to parenting her son as a young man, who is committed to fun, play, and the principles of integrity, equality, and community responsibility.
