Richard ”Rick” Rubin is Senior Counsel with Massey Law Group. Rick specializes in Corporate, Real Estate, Franchising, Tax Law and Estate Planning. He has lectured in these areas for the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education Institute and the National Business Institute, among others. His lectures and publications include: “Income Taxation of Massachusetts Corporations”, “What an Estate Planning/Probate Attorney Needs to Know about Real Estate Law”, “Compensation, Constructive Dividends and Executive Compensation in the Close Corporation”, “Tax Treatment of Employment Agreements, Consulting Agreements and Non-Competition Agreements”, “Corporate Stock Redemptions under I.R.C. Section 302” and “Alternatives Sources to Bank Financing.”
Rick is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Literature Science and the Arts in Ann Arbor, MI, the University of Florida School of Law in Gainesville, FL, and Boston University’s School of Law Master’s in Taxation. He also spent a semester at St. Edmund’s Hall in Oxford, U.K., and he believes that he has been privileged to live and study in four of the great college towns in the world. Rick is licensed to practice law in Florida, Michigan, and Massachusetts.
Rick has been both in-house counsel in Florida and Michigan, a sole practitioner, and a partner in a Boston law firm.
He was the recipient of the Morris Hershson Award of Merit in 2009 for distinguished and long-standing service to the container reconditioning industry. A committed environmentalist, Rick has spoken at numerous Reusable Industrial Packaging Conferences regarding the reuse of industrial packaging, including the International Confederation of Container Reconditioners in Amsterdam, Netherlands in 2001.
Rick and his wife, Gail, have been married for over 35 years. They have two children and two grandchildren. When not spending time with his family, Rick is an avid nature photographer and kayaker. Rick also finds time to be involved in his community working with various organizations to promote sustainability and social justice.
