Jacqueline R. Ambrose leads Massey Law Group’s Healthcare Practice Group. She believes in pro-active risk management and identifies as a problem-solver first and foremost. Jacqueline represents large self-insured hospitals, individual practitioners, stand-alone healthcare facilities, and physician groups, in addition to multiple medical malpractice and other liability insurance carriers.
Jacqueline focuses her practice on defending against medical malpractice claims at the trial and appellate levels and advising healthcare providers and facilities on how to proactively manage their risks to reduce the frequency and severity of claims. She also provides counsel and training on HIPAA compliance, privilege issues, adverse incident reporting, subpoenas, and confidentiality.
Jacqueline has significant experience handling birth injury claims, transplant cases, and an array of complex high-acuity cases, as well as developing privileged patient safety documentation programs. She also serves as outside counsel to a large behavioral health organization, where she advises on Baker Act, Marchman Act, PHI, regulatory, and general liability matters.
Jacqueline is a frequent author, speaker, and presenter on documentation best practices to minimize litigation, risk management and patient safety developments, reduction of medical error, high-reliability organizations and zero-harm, and statutory developments affecting medical malpractice litigation. She is an adjunct professor at Florida State University College of Law, where she developed a 14-hour course for the Juris Masters Healthcare program on Risk Management, Patient Safety, and Quality Improvement.
An active member of the Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management and Patient Safety (FSHRMPS), Jacqueline chaired the FSHRMPS Communications Committee and served as Editor of the RiskNet Online Journal for several years. She is also a Director of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association (FDLA), and serves as Board Liaison to the FDLA Women in Law and Diversity Committees.
Jacqueline graduated from Georgetown Law and has been named a Florida Super Lawyers Rising Star consistently since 2015. She also has substantial prior experience in appellate brief writing and the litigation of complex commercial claims, class action defense, and creditors’ rights and bankruptcy matters.
Jacqueline proudly serves as a member of the board of directors of The Spring of Tampa Bay as well as Tampa Bay Businesses for Culture and the Arts. She grew up in Palm Harbor, Florida, and lives in Tampa. She enjoys good bourbon, baking pies, and attempting to corral her two young daughters.
